Mancini’s Italian Restaurant and Brick Oven Pizzeria in Fenwick Island

Fine dining in Fenwick Island? You betcha!

The last time we visited Mancini’s we had a party of six – and can call it a “party” because we were celebrating two birthdays (all week). One of the birthday girls sent us the following email describing our dinner and why she likes dining at Mancini’s while visiting at the beach.

“Mancini’s Italian Restaurant and Brick Oven Pizzeria on Fenwick Island is that rare combination of old world charm, attentive service, and excellent cuisine, which makes it a true gem in this mid-Atlantic resort area. Our party sampled a variety of its offerings, and all were excellent. We began our journey with a number of appetizers, to include the roasted garlic bulb; bruschetta covered with either marinated tomatoes and flaked crabmeat, sun-dried tomato pesto and roasted pepper, or marinated tomatoes with mozzarella; and heirloom tomatoes topped with mozzarella. All were wonderful.

Then we each selected a different entree: brick oven pizza; Linguini Con Scampi; Capellini Ai Frutti Di Mare; Capellini Con Pollo and Carciofi; and (Wayne’s pasta, not sure what it was*). Each was excellent. Salad and fresh baked bread were included with the meals, and the house wines were quite good. A wonderful meal in a delightful location.”

This writer agrees with the birthday girl’s observations and has always enjoyed dining at Mancini’s. We love the Italian Restaurant part of the name and really enjoy the Brick Oven Pizza part – and we seem to enjoy them in that order, hence we take liberty with their name. The actual name, as it appears on their website and on their sign, is Mancini’s Brick Oven Pizzeria & Restaurant.

Mancini’s Brick Oven Pizzeria and Restaurant is an upscale place to dine in Fenwick Island at 907 Coastal Highway (302-537-4224). That’s on the ocean side of the highway about nine blocks north of the MD-DE line.
*Wayne’s pasta dish was the Bolognese.

Warren’s Station & Mile High Ice Cream Pie

Right smack dab in the middle of Fenwick Island

…bay side of Coastal Highway about a mile north of the MD/DE state line – stands Warren’s Station Family Restaurant – home of the world famous (well, locally famous, anyway) Mile High Ice Cream Pie.

If you’ve got a hankering for a chocolate sundae for dessert it may just be worth your while to get to Warrens Station for dinner. Just don’t eat too much – because you’ll need some serious room for a slice of this Mile High (well, really about nine inches) Ice Cream Pie. Pie? Really? Yes-sir-eee, it is a pie – complete with a bottom crust, a filling of both vanilla and chocolate ice cream and covered with a sweet meringue (and baked, at that). All of that is drizzled with an ample supply of rich chocolate sauce. It absolutely has all the makings of a chocolate sundae – but served on a flat plate instead of in a deep dish. And, yes, is is delicious – and there is even plenty to share. In fact, sharing is recommended if you’ve already had something to eat.

Warrens Station Family Restaurant is located at 1406 Ocean Hwy, Fenwick Island, DE 19944. Call 302-539-7156. Note, please, that Warren’s Station is closed from the end of September or early October until Mother’s Day.
